Introducing Keeper

“Keeper” is a forest fairy who protects her baby, and the garden she lives in, until it is time for her baby’s birth.

I spent many hours wrapping, and sometimes unwrapping, wire to create the look I wanted.

I used a steel rod for her spine, it sticks out about 18inches below to stabilize her in the ground.

I hope you enjoy the pictures!

These first pictures are the beginning of the process. It took me a while to find the right pose, nothing seemed quite right. I”d been following advice from other artists, but most of the poses seemed hyper sexual, and that was not what I wanted.

As the sculpture progressed, I realized she was pregnant. Isn’t her little copper baby the cutest?

A few detail shots. I’d have never thought wire could be so beautiful before, but it really is! There’s something so peaceful about the chaotic twists! (strange, I know lol).

And finally, the finished sculpture! I just love how her wings wrap around her and her baby protectively.

I’d love to hear what you think, or if you have any projects you’ve been working on, please share them!
