Today Cordelia, Brom and I went on an adventure! Sarah took the big girls off to a friends house and left me and “the littles” home alone. Were we going to stay there? No way!
We loaded up the essentials:
- Magnifying Glass
- Containers for bugs
- Snacks and water
- A couple toys
And we were off! There is a nice set of ball diamonds not too far of a walk from our place with a playground tucked away atop a hill in the trees. That was the destination for today.
Cordelia led the way, stopping only to pick up knocked down barriers and climb on fences!
While we were walking Brom’s singing firetruck “Frank” was serenading us from Cordelia’s back pack. It made for quite the amusing soundtrack to our journey.
We wind our way through the neighbourhoods, Cordelia pointing out how much changed in the last year. “Daddy, there was only a basement here before, now there is a whole HOUSE!”
Arriving at park we see that they have built some new gardens near the entrance, as we get closer there are signs tell us they are “pollinator gardens.” Well that sounds cool, there is nothing in them yet but I’m sure they’ll look great when the plants and flowers grow in!
Cordelia wants to go climb trees so off we go to climb trees and balance on brick walls all the while dodging the ever increasing swarms of mosquitos.
Or almost dodge them…
That’s one big mosquito bite.
The playground is empty, we have it all to ourselves and for the next two or so hours we play pirates, make sand angels, climb, jump, swing, become spiders, space heroes, eat snacks and examine bugs!
It was fantastic afternoon, but as they say all good things must come to an end. The clouds rolled in and the wind picked up. So we wrapped up in blankets, hopped in the stroller and head home with the rain sprinkling down.
Overall I’d say it was a pretty #unforgettable day!
